Sneak A Peek

By on 4-29-2008 in Gorjuss Friends

Good evening all,

And welcome to another of my blog entries on behalf of Suzanne, So before I get started in the information an update on Suzanne and her back pain.

OUCH

Suzanne is in much less pain today than at any point over the weekend. She has a smile on her face and is currenlty working on limited edition ACEO prints.. I’ll reveal more tommorrow. She sends her love to you all, and is very gratefull for all your words of support and get well wishes.

TODAY
Today i take a look into the dark recesses of Suzanne’s sketch book to share with you a glimpse at some of her work. I hope you will please excuse the watermarks, but its hard enough in this digital world to protect the work without making it easy for them. I hope you can see the wonderful sketches that have led to some stunning pictures and also some wee sneeky peeks at unfinnished sketches and unseen.

SKETCHBOOKS

We shall start with a picture not yet released nor infact seen before… not even by me, I stumbled over it and thought.. “when did you do that one sooz?”

sketch7

Quite Clearly one for Bath time, it has not title as yet…. may run a competition for that… infact just for fun, add a comment with your suggested titles.. I like “Teddy Eats Too Many Beans”, hence why Suzanne is the artist..

Ok Next is a little unfinnished one, a headless bound girl…sadly its not ever likely to reach its full creation. I’ve seen many a page with poor souls like this all over them, these are the unfinnished ones….

sketch9

Its fortunate that so many other sketches make it to full realisation, then its onto the computer to paint and colour and make into those prints and tubes you all love.

I did find some other interesting sketches, here for example is the original sketch for “the getaway”, now I must point out in the interest of selling some of these originals, they are available. If you cant find it listed on Etsy, just mail Suzanne and ask.

sketch3

Most original sketches sell for upwards of $80, we have a lot of these hiding in many of Suzannes Sketch books… heres a little pile of other sketches I found…

I hope to get through some of the other sketch books to reveal yet more of Suzannes work to you..

BOX CANVAS

Now yesterday we told you about selling some Canvas prints through a little local shop called “cupidus” located at 685 Clarkston Rd, Netherlee, Glasgow, G44 3SE. This shop is a lovely little gift shop and sell many hand crafted items and now Gorjuss Canvas Prints, I took some photographs before I delivered them to share with you all.

Box Canvas

The Largest one is “Dropped” and is sized at 16″x20″ and is priced at £50,($100), its not on sale in Etsy due to shipping costs etc, but if you desperately want one, just drop Suzanne a mail. The Smaller two are 8″x10″ of “I found my Family in a Book” and “Ruby”. These are available from Suzanne’s Etsy store and are priced around £30($60).

I have to say, the 20×16’s were a little experiment of mine that we happened to really like, anyway… speaking of experiments, Suzanne tried making some pendants today.

PENDANTS

These are still under development, so far today we played with Stirling Silver Plated Snaked Chain, with a Stirling Silver Backed Pendant. Now at the moment there are only two in existance, but we will be able to offer these of any print/picture that fit a round setting.

pendant 2

This one is obviously Daughters, The other one we tried was “Solitary”

Pendant 1

As I say we have only these two at the current moment, and we still have another pendant making technique to test. Once I have some samples of those, I shall put some pictures up.

Well thats about it for today, I plan to reveal to you how a gorjuss print is made, and also gorjuss buttons/pins. We have the new Pendants to reveal and some updates on Suzanne and her back. Wow it is actually that exciting around here…..

Please If this blog has raised anything that you wish to ask more about, either add a comment or mail Suzanne or myself directly. We are happy to answer most relevent questions and Im happy to answer anything quite frankly… nothing makes me smile more than a little email bing.. except chain e-mails…. grrrr thats a rant for another day. I also plan to show you how much work goes into a bookmark… and with that in mind… heres the last little picture for todays blog entry..

  1. I just love everything that Suzanne creates! The Gorjuss girl and the bear in the bath is just adorable 🙂 Got to get my thinking cap on and come up with a name!

The next time i come across to Glasgow i’ll definately be dropping in past Cupidus.

Oh by the way Mr & Mrs W….you have email 😉

  2. the pendants are lovely but i’d like to make a suggestion. for anyone who loves suzanne’s work and her gorjuss girls and is willing to put out the $$ to own a pendant- i’d like to suggest that they be sterling silver and not plated. MHO.
that being said i am NOT aware of how significant the cost difference would be. i do know about some of the ebay shops that sell sterling pendants similar in concept to the pendant you have created so the backings and chains are out there..

  3. Hey Maddy the backings are .925 Sterling Silver Setting, the chain is silver plate… because Suzanne knows that everyone likes different lengths of chains and styles etc, and the chain is purely to be an inexpensive way to sell a complete item allowing the buyer to change the chain easily with out the loss of $$$$$’s.
Thats what she just said right there… LOL.. And as I say, experimental and one more type to go..

  4. I love the pendents too and love the above suggestion of sterling. Can I also suggest different size lengths in chains? I always order a 24″ chain when I order a pendant since I love them longer.

    Great sketches too.

  5. That was a blast seeing her sketches, too bad that bathtub one isn’t entirely finished because it’s darling! I definitely loved seeing what you’ve been working on, those necklaces are turning out beautifully. Definitely unfortunate that I live too far to come see the paintings in the photos, my kids do insist on eating food though and buying them online would stop that at this point. lol.

  6. I suggest titling the new bathtub print either bears ‘n bubbles or teddies, duckies and bubblies. 🙂

Also, I love the diverse new ACEOs. Any chance any of those will become bookmarks? I just discovered Suzanne’s work, and I love it.

  7. Oooooooohhhhh….I love the peek inside Suzanne’s sketchbook! The teddy-in-a-tub is too cute!

The pendants are very cool…and the little ACEO prints…oooohhhh I love it all.

Glad to hear Suzanne is feeling better!

  9. Love the bear in the tub! I think I like “Wash the Day Away”. That’s what I wish I could do sometimes when I’ve had a bad day..lol.

  10. Felicitaciones excelente tu trabajo, hermoso muy creativo
