FRIDAY NIGHT GIVEAWAY 2: THE REVENGE

By on 5-09-2008 in Competitions / Contests

Good evening all, its here…..

header

OK lets get the bumf rules and regulations out of the way first…………

1. Anyone making the 50th comment or any of the following 50th comment ie 50, 100, 150 etc will be selected to enter a draw on Friday the 17th Of May at 11pm. The winner of which shall receive the painting as yet untitled.. (See above), all other selectee’s shall receive a lesser prize..

2. You can only get put through once, so If you happen to get the 50th post, and the 100th… you will be entered once for the 50th, and we will go to the first new entrant above the 100th comment.. So to try and make that make any sense… If for example Mr X made the 50th comment on this blog, and 100th… we would look at comment 101, if that commenter has already been put through to the draw, we look to 102nd and so on untill we find a new winner.

3. Due to the nature of this blog, new comments have to be approved by Suzanne or myself, we promise to try to keep the time taken for this to a minimum, this can affect the numbering of comments and to avoid confusion, we will not put anyone through until the following nights blog has been released. Only then will we take note of the 50th, 100th etc position. (once all pending comments are approved)

******UPDATE**********

Due to slow progress I have decided to put every 25th comment through to the final.

*******UPDATE OVER*********

4. You will be disquallified for 1 day if you double post….. so If you add a comment and then add another directly afterwards, you will not be put through. However, If you comment again on the next evenings blog entry, you will be able to qualify should you get 50th or 100th etc comment. So If you get disqualified for one night, you can try again the next night..

4.5. You are encouraged to comment multiple times a day, make 50 comments a day…. as long as you dont have concurrent comments, ie 2 comments together… comment 4 and 5 for example. I hope this clears things up… Comment on either themes in any of the blog entries from Friday up to Friday 16th May… so each new blog entry will be a new theme to talk about. Comment on that theme or ANY other themes set this week. And Good luck…

5. A theme for comments will be set for each night, at the discression of Suzanne and Grant, people with the best comments will possibly gain a wildcard to the end draw or a spot prize. These will be announced as and when they happen. You will be able to win spot prizes more than once throughout the week.

6. The final draw will be made by entering names into a hat, and one of Suzanne’s girls will select one name from the hat to win the prize.

7. All winners will be contacted by email to obtain an address to send the prize to. If we dont have a valid email address for you we cant contact you and your prize can not be shipped. We will make all efforts to get your details.

8. No purchase is necessary…… and Suzannes decission is final. There will be no 0870 number to call, no hidden charges… feel free to comment and join in every night.

9. If you require any further clarification of the rules please feel free to mail myself grant@gorjuss.co.uk, or Suzanne gorjuss@gorjuss.co.uk.

I hope these rules are clear enough for you all, I do plan to be about to answer queries and help keep you all going.. so please stick comments in and I’ll get back to you..

  1. I meant to add, if we dont get 50 comments, then noone goes through, other than getting a golden ticket from Suzanne… lol…

ie. Suzanne makes up the rules and reserves the right to change them so ner.. Basically we will be fair and we want everyone to have fun with this…

    So please… have a go..

  2. A fairytale that always makes me snicker is the Princess and the Pea! I am not really sure why, though! Thanks for the great bloggin’.

  3. Thanks Peamissy i was getting worried i was alone on this planet…

    Get your comments in here..

I would be Jack horner, sitting in my corner with my thumb in the pie……..

lol Though I greatly doubt if there would be much pie left…

  4. I want to be Cinderella, one because I’m tired of doing housework and two I’d love to ride around in a pumpkin wouldn’t you??
    beautiful painting Suzanne!
    BelovedAimee

  5. My fairy tale fantasy would have to be Sleeping Beauty–because I want to be a devastatingly gorgeous and well-rested princess and wake up being kissed by a handsome prince. I would even settle for well-rested at this point!

  6. Suzanne
I love ur painting and love the gorjuss girls
    Hugs Debra

  7. One of my favorite fairy tales is The Little Mermaid – not the Disney version, but the original. It’s beautiful and sad at the same time.

    Glad you’re feeling better, Suzanne!!!

    XO Beth

  8. “Penelope” is my favorite. I love that the ultimate message is about self-empowerment, self-acceptance and self-love. Once Penelope accepts her “pig-nose” and stops trying to hide it or blend it or to transform it to some imposed (parental, societal, self or otherwise) standard of beauty), she is transformed (in the beginning emotionally and ultimately physically released from the “curse” which proves to always have been within her own control), and she can fully embrace and enjoy what the world and life has to offer and what she can contribute in kind. She finds acceptance, purpose and love — and realizes it always was within her own control. Love it!

  9. Peterpan!!!
I always loved Peterpan since I was a little girl I remember watching it on the telly and it was so magical I really believed you could fly if Tinkerbell sprinkled her magic dust.Mostly I remember a few days afterwards my grade 1 teacher bought a really neat book full of these magical pictures from the movie and the last page if you held it up against a wall it casted a shadow of Peterpan!!!. Well at the time I didnt know this and I thought for sure it was really Peterpan… and did so for many years “giggles” I guess its just a fond childhood memory. Hugs Sheri

  10. My Favorite Fairytale is The princess and the pauper, It is a life story of how having everything is not all it seems, sometimes you are happier being the pauper.

ps Suzanne I hope that you have continued success in your healing.

  11. my favourite is this MODERN fairy tale..authour unknown

    A Modern Fairy Tale

    Once upon a time
    In a land far away,
    A beautiful, independent,
    Self-assured princess
Happened upon a frog as she sat
    Contemplating ecological issues
On the shores of an unpolluted pond
In a verdant meadow near her castle.

The frog hopped into the princess’ lap
    And said: “Elegant Lady,
I was once a handsome prince,
Until an evil witch cast a spell upon me.
    One kiss from you, however,
    And I will turn back
Into the dapper, young prince that I am
And then, my sweet, we can marry
And set up housekeeping in your castle
    With my mother,
Where you can prepare my meals,
Clean my clothes, bear my children,
    And forever feel
Grateful and happy doing so. ”

    That night,
    As the princess dined sumptuously
    On lightly sauteed frog legs
    Seasoned in a white wine
    And onion cream sauce,
She chuckled and thought to herself:

    I don’t f****ng think so.

  12. I lovbe that one Maddy 🙂

I Think I’ll be the cat ..lol 🙂

    THE FOX AND THE CAT

A fox and a cat were out walking together when the fox began boasting how clever he was.

“I’m prepared for any situation” said the Fox. “I have a whole bag of tricks to choose from if my enemies try to capture me.”

“I’m afraid I’ve only got one trick, but it has always worked for me” The cat said timidly.

The fox looked at the cat and shook his head “One trick, how dumb is that? I’ve got hundreds of ways of escaping” said the fox.

“I still think it’s better to have one trick that works than waste time trying to choose from a dozen that might” said the cat softly.

“Rubbish” shouted the fox. “You’re just not as smart as me”

Just then they heard a pack of dogs barking as they coming towards them. The cat immediately ran up the nearest tree and hid on one of the highest branches.

“That’s my trick” the cat called from high up in the tree. “You had better reach into that bag of tricks of yours and choose one right now or you’re history”

“Ok, Ok, stay calm” said the fox to himself.

“Should I run and hide behind the nearest hedge?

Or should I jump down a burrow?”

The dogs were getting closer and closer.

“Down a burrow that’s the way to go” said the fox, and started running around the field looking for a burrow.

“No, that one’s too small, I can’t get down far enough. This one’s too big, they could get down too. Maybe that one over there?”

Too late. While the fox wasted time, confused by so many choices, the dogs caught him and killed him.

The cat looked down sadly and said, “It’s better to have one safe way than a hundred you can’t choose from.”

    The End

  13. My favorite fairytale was “The Turtoise and the Hare” The reason was because the turtoise even though not fast was smart. And although to some the Hare is prettier, faster and smarter. He loses the race. I am a survivor of child abuse and now I suffer from a terminal lung disease. I keep this tale in my mind often as it helps me stay my corse. Plotting wins the race…I have lived a full life and have had the oppertunity to do more then most. I do not tell you this because I want sympathy. I say it so that you may know that to me time is short and everything that I do has a purpose. I have no children or family. I do however have a wonderful husband who is my care giver. I relate to your work in ways that others may not see. But each picture tells a real story to me and I thank you for sharing the stories with me. I am not sure I have found a kindred heart, but I am sure that you have some knowledge of what I and others have felt. I do not get out as I live on oxygen and the short walk to the bathroom is like running a marathion. So I have no social skills.lol Sorry for the epic…
    Blessings,
    Nanndy

  14. My fav. Fairytale has always been Sleeping beauty. l received a paperback copy of it when l was 7 yrs old, its a amazing copy as it is shaped like a castle and the drawings in it almost look hand drawen, little windows cut out as well.

I still have it, when my neices were little it was one of those special little books that only came out when l was around. They adored it and l hope to read it to my great neice whos three.

It is a amazing version and l still treasure it to this day. l am 51 yrs old now, its one of these keep sacks we all tresure.

One day l photography it to show ppl how amazing the copy is.

    Hugs lee

  15. I like “Beauty and the Beast”. It just goes to show what true love can overcome.

  16. Hmmmm im not sure i will have to think long and hard about this…lol.

*goes to think about it lol *

    hugz

  17. Guys you are welcome to add 2nd comments etc to boost the numbers up… as long as you dont have comment directly after another of your own, ie comment 3 and 4… 3 and 5 would be fine.. Otherwise I fear 50 comments may be a bridge too far… LOL…

I also used to love that Hensons Story Teller… My favourite was the man with the bag, who told death to get in it…

    Scary and lovely

  18. My favorite fairytale was aways Thumbalina. I even rember naming a babydoll that when I was little. Suzanne, I just discovered your artwork and am in love! Do you do any curly haired latino style girlies? LOL
    -ZJ

  19. I am not sure of my favorite fairy tale at the moment. I’ll have to give it some thought.

I really just wanted to say that I think Maddy’s comments are giving me yet another reason to keep stopping by…lol. Of course Suzanne’s work comes first, followed by Grant’s commentaries.

  20. Wow, what a rawking painting! My favorite fairytale is The Little Match Girl. I can’t even explain to you why, there is just something about it that gets me every time. 🙂

  21. You are such an inspiration. You drawings and paintings are just beautiful. I am so impressed by your work. Have a great day.

  22. Lauren says It’s a must for her bedroom!

  23. I love Beauty and the Beast too. My mom had the most beautiful version of it with the most amazing illustrations…she gave it to me when I moved away from home. It’s just stunning and I treasure it so much.

  24. *sends cyber hug to suze for having to endure grant’s ramblings*

  25. It’s different but in a nice way.It also makes me feel at home and it’s cute and pretty!

  26. Hi Lauren its lovely to see you here… what was your favourite nursery rhyme/ fairytale?
Did your dad Ian read you any??

  27. Snow White. He always used to read me a bed time story but now I read my own.

  28. LOL i forgot you aren’t 4 anymore…. lol

    1000 appologies

    *slaps self*

  29. I am 9 now. Dad says you need to wind your neck in.

  30. Here’s one I bet most of you have never heard of — “The Girl Who Trod on a Loaf.” I found it in an antique volume of Grimm’s fairy tales (another one of my mom’s books). It’s a lovely story about a selfish little girl who uses a loaf of her grandmother’s bread to cross over a mud puddle and ends up going to Hades where she realizes the error of her ways. It’s pretty…well, Grim. : P

  31. It sounds quite grim!

  32. Child off to bed time, my fave would be “where the wild things are” which Lauren actually liked too amazingly.
    Ah, the wonders of youtube-http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=fWIdkYk9fQM

  33. Beth I have never heard of that one, it sounds pretty grimm…. I am just adding some pictures to tonights blog….. will have it up…. even after its up, this competition is still running… so keep posting

  34. Little secret here Grant, shh, keep it to yourself, but getting rid of snails, slugs and beetles is a good way of keeping your garden beautiful! ;o)

  35. DOh no if you only posted that comment under the right blog…… lol that could have been a no 1….

    Anyway thanks for taking part…..

  36. My all time favorite would have to be Mulan. Why can’t my reflection show who I am inside? At a time in her life when she doesn’t quite know who she is let alone what she wants. She tries hard to please everyone and pleases no one until she discovers her own strength inside. She’s an inspiration to me to never give up even when everyone says you can’t, even when you doubt yourself. One stone cast creates ripples that can go on and on and change everyone and everything it touches That one person can truly make a difference.

  37. Well said, now if only Disney went for that story…

  38. That’s because people Disney always believe it.

    I’ll get my coat!

  39. I also like “The Little Mermaid”. Ok when I was the movie with my daughter, who is going to be 24 in the 22nd, I cried at the end. I know, I know…it was just an animated picture. But I’ve never met my dad. And the thought of her leaving her dad to be with the man she loved just got to me. I never had a dad to leave for any reason. So I guess it kind of hit a soft spot with me.

  40. If I were to be a fairy tale…I’d go for Cinderella.

She has a fairy godmother helping her out with all sorts of magic…she gets to dress up and meet her soul mate at a fancy ball…and in the end, even when she’s poor and has no material possessions to offer…she finds out that her prince still loves her – for just being her…and whisks her away to be his wife.

And…if we’re going with the Disney version of the story…you also have a bunch of birds and mice as friends. Not only can you communicate with them…but they sew excellent dresses. 😉

Not too shabby for Cinderella… =)

  41. i think my bestest fairy tale would have to be one i made up for my little girl before she went to bed i had to tell her a story about how she and the fairies would go on adventures and at the end when the fairies said goodbye the gave her little fairy kisses on her cheeks, at that point i had to touch her cheeks with my finger tips

the princess and the frog was always one i loved my mum to tell, and the emperors new clothes always made me laugh oh and the elves and the shoe maker i could go on and on but i wont as the king of the potaotes has requested i do tea

  42. The Princess & The Pea is a very interesting fairytale. It’s been years since I read it but if my memory is accurate, she’s lost one night & comes upon a castle where a Prince lives with his parents, (I think!! lol).. anyway… they offer her shelter & the mother piles mattresses on the bed until the princess must climb a ladder to go to bed. But under the bottom mattress is a pea. The princess tosses & turns all night. She can’t sleep as she feels the pea…. so the mother knows she is of royal blood & can marry her Son. Cos as we all know… those of higher blood are so much more delicate than the rest of us low born peasants!! hahaha lmao!!!

  43. pmsflmao cris hey did you ever try putting a pea under your matress tho i remember doing it when i was little then telling my mum i must be a princess because the pea hurt my back, she lifted up the matress and the pea was smushed, it was a mushy pea id nicked of me dinner plate

  44. Aaww Sez… bless ya lil heart! lmao I could sleep on a single sheet with a bag of frozen peas under it & still feel nothing…. low born blood & plenty of padding on my backside.. hahaha!! I like the story of the Emperors New Clothes too, being fooled into walking out naked & all the people going.. “oohh he looks so dashing” etc til the one little boy pipes up & tells the truth.

  45. yeah but if that story happened today it’d be a woman sayin cor have you seen the size of his ……….. belly button lol

i know this one isnt a classic fairy tale but it should be lol labyrinth, someones mentioned disney films so im mentioning my fave film in the world by the very cool late mr henson

  46. Gotta agree with you on Labyrinth Sez. It has all the makings of a classic fairytale… goblins, monsters, a heroine, a cute baby that needs saved & the very bad, sexy, gorgeous Goblin King!! Mmmm I’d so be his slave forever! lmao

  47. mmmm all hail jareth the sexy goblin king lol, i still know the film by heart aaaaaaaaaand i have a teddy sir didymus, the storybook, toy doorknockers, a jareth action figure and im waiting for me hoggle to come from ebay oh and im getting a talking plush ludo

not adicted to the film in the slightest.
    honest lol
tryin to think now, have you ever seen the non cartoon version of snowwhite, the atual grimm tales version, veeeeery different to the disney one

  48. i like cinderella those who get everything end up with nothing and those who are treated badly and get nothing end up with everything they dreamed off and more

  49. Not sure if I have Sez… but would love to cos the true tale is so much more… well… Grimm! lmao Actually the more I think about it, the more I think I did see that. Anyway… Becks, wouldn’t that be so fab if it were true in real life! I’m a realist & sometimes bad people get everything they want. But… I also believe in karma, what goes around, comes around. So long live fairy tales!! lol

  50. yeah i like cinders too, have you seen the newer ones, the last cinderella film by disney, reverses it lol, still has a happy ending tho for cinders,
the story was better she went to 3 balls not just one.

the film snow white had sigourney weaver in me thinks cant remember now lol i liked it tho

i also loved enchanted, not a classic fairy tale but i thought it was sweet
