Now are you all ready to meet our Guest this weekend?

Bindi is the Designer behind Stormy Sky, a beautiful jewellery line. She lives with her husband and cat in a quintessential rural village in Somerset, England.   She has been making jewelry for a few years and especially loves natural gemstones, vintage glass and silver! Let’s find out more:

Meet Our Guest…

Question Hello Guest Giveaway lovely!  Please tell us a little bit about you, who you are, where you are from!?!

Answer Hi, my name is Bindi and I’m a silversmith living and working in Somerset in the rural south west of England.  I live in a quintessential English village not far from where I grew up.  I live with my husband and cat in a very tiny house.

Question Tell us about what you make and your inspiration

Answer I make simple, rustic jewellery, mainly in silver (and occasionally gold) and natural precious and semi-precious stones and pearls (plus the odd bit of vintage glass!).  Most of my work is simple, with a hint of vintage; I often add a dark patina to the metal I use for an aged effect.  My inspiration to create can come from anything – art, nature, fashion… you name it!

Question What is your favourite item to make/sell?

Answer I love to make chains!  Solid, chunky, tough-as-you-like chains.  It’s kind of a long process, with up to a dozen stages from start to finish, though they come together really quickly in the end – it’s one of those tasks where preparation and care in the early stages really pays off with a beautiful finish.  The overall look is regular and even, but if you look closely you can see the faint little joins and tiny hammer blow marks – all the work that has gone into them is visible – I love that.

Question Do you have a favourite Etsy item you’ve bought?

Answer A lot of my supplies come from Etsy sellers – beads and stones and so on.  Hard to pick a favourite, but many have been tough to let go!  I also collect vintage glass and have had some rare and beautiful beads from Etsy sellers: BumbershootSupplies, Beadbrats and Beadtopiavintage.

Question Do you have any other websites people can find you?

Answer It’s just Etsy at the moment.  I do have plans to start up DaWanda and Folksy Shops, and also to set up a new Etsy store for jewellery made exclusively from vintage stones and beads, but those plans are probably a few months off yet.

Question Whats the best advice you’ve ever been given?

Answer “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.  Live the life you’ve imagined”.

It’s a very well used saying and seems to crop up on many things!  It may be a really obvious piece of advice, but it works for me!

Question Anything else you’d like to say?

Answer A big thank you to all of my wonderful customers – thanks to you all I get to spend my days doing what I love!

  4. If I were a super hero my name would be “Super Paupau!” it is an old name that I have when I do cool stuff for others so I would be so proud to used it as a super hero name.

My power would be the teletransportation, why that? I am from Chile and just got married with my “gorjuss” english husband and I know how much you can miss your family when you live appart from them, so I will take every person that lives away from their loved ones and help them to be together for a while. I am sure I will make happy a lot of people like me that now and then miss the people they love. And the will say to me “thank you Super Paupau!” … so freaking awesome!

  5. About StormySky …
I am really happy to have found Bindi's work, it is really the kind of jewerly I love to wear, sadly I am kind of allergic to fantasy and silver metal, but I have a nice cream that helps me to wear silver jewerly.
I've looked around and as Suzanne said, all your work is stunning, but what caught my eye were the “Marrakech” earrings and I will be totally happy to be the owner of them and wear them proudly.

Thank you Bindi for bring into my life your work, I've already set as fave some other pieces of work under the “xmas wishlist” .. I hope to see more from you soon 😀

    Paulie.

  6. I believe I would have to be called Parma violet girl, and save the world by turning bad things into parma violets – yum yum x

  7. If I was a superhero, I would like the name “Super Time Girl” with the power of adding hours in a day because we all need some extra time to do all the stuffs we want to do.

  8. If I were a super hero I would be Glitter Girl with powers to make everything sparkly and happy.

  9. If I were a Super Hero, I would be called Madam Shockalot. My super power would be the ability to zap evil villians with a volt of static electricity and bring them to their knees! Unfortunately, like Superman and Kryptonite, my one weakness would be FABRIC SOFTENER! But if a villian were that soft and fluffy, how evil could they be anyway???

  10. Just adore all Bindi's lovely jewelry, but in particular, I LOVE the Rustic Hppo Earrings here: http://www.etsy.com/listing/39802953/rustic-hoops

The Intrepid Heart – Sterling Silver Hand Forged Heart Pendant catches my eye for some reason. I am not too sure why it is my favourite, it just is.
